"For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually."
2 Chronicles 7:16

The Lord looks upon us from His lofty vantage and His eyes are drawn to a soul and a life, to a name and a face, to one that is wholly and completely His child.  He sees that one clearly, standing out amongst the surroundings as plainly as a sparkling jewel on a patch of velvet.  Oh, to be sure, this gem is still crusted with dirt and debris -- it is unpolished and incomplete, its edges are rough, jagged and sharp.  And yet, in our sorry condition we still comprehend the import of His words: "I have chosen . ."  God's words are never frivolous banter, they are never to be lightly esteemed.

"My eyes . ."  As proof of His love and His choice, He focuses His vision directly upon us, His children.  His eyes will see us in all we do; His gaze will follow us down all our paths -- a warm comfort at times, and a weighty intrusion at others.  But with His gaze come His eyes, the mirror of the soul.  Joy and worry are both seen initially in the eyes.  When we "see" Him "seeing" us, we begin to know Him more fully.

"My heart . ."  When a heart is given, it's fate, it's well being, it's joys and sorrows are all in the hands of the possessor.  In His eternal passion, God has given us possession of His heart, His God-heart!  And thus, by our actions, He will derive either joy or sorrow as we respond to His unparalleled gift.  His heart literally beats with yours!  When darkness envelops your heart, His heart is with you to comfort and strengthen and buoy you upon the waves of turmoil.  And when your heart is made weightless with buoyant joy, His too soars to the heights!

"My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually."  Not 'usually,' or 'sometimes,' or on Sundays only, but 'perpetually,' even 'always.'  Praise you Jesus, my Lord, my brother, my everlasting companion!
