" . . . we who have fled . . . have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.  It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus has . . . entered."
Hebrews 6:18-19

The 'fleeing ones,' the refugees, have fled a dying world to find solace and shelter in a Savior, One who will save them from their sins and from certain and forever death.  They have nothing of real value or merit, refugees seldom do.  The stark reality is that they have only one possession of any value at all -- the small but sturdy vessel of their soul.  In it, the refugee has placed a seed called hope.  It is a seed because in the future, it will bear fruit, fruit as certain and sure as the faith that keeps it.

And yet, even now, as this hope germinates and begins to grow inside and unseen; it's long arms reach beyond time and into the temple of the living God.  They stretch and grasp and probe farther and farther along until they brush against the curtain of the Most Holy Place.  They continue their inward journey, past this veil until they reverently touch the mercy, love and reality of God.  And God, who originally offered us this hope-seed, reaches towards us to lovingly lay hold of another of His searching children, as we have so longed for Him to do.

In that moment, we perceive what it is to "take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of us," and our anchor has been made secure.
