A Firm Grasp A Devotion The Goodsoil Discipleship Ministry By Bro. Andy Madonio June 4, 2000 |

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12 When I was yet a sinner, when I had nothing about me that was endearing to God, when I was far from Jesus and hastily retreating farther yet -- my Lord saw something of importance. He saw something in me and He grasped hold of it ever so firmly in His great hands. What was it He clung to? Oh, if only I may learn, Holy Spirit, what that "handle" truly is! Why, if I come one day to comprehend how or what Jesus grasped in me, then I may imitate Him as I look to others that are now as I once was. Only with His eyes may I see as He saw me. Only with His heart may I love as He loved me. Only with His firm grip may I lay hold of others as He laid hold of me. Is it attainable? It doesn't matter -- I must try. The apostle did not regard himself as having laid hold of that Christ-grip, but he knew to keep searching for it. He knew to forget the past and reach towards the future and to press on, and so must I! |
