When you search for the Lord,
You will find Him - Moses
(Deuteronomy 4:28-30)

When you seek me with all your heart,
You will be found by Me - God
(Jeremiah 29:12-14)

God loves hide and seek; He simply wants to be found by us.  He desires - maybe even requires - that we seek Him.  He is very demanding and persistent, and finding Him is not an easy thing, for He knows with certainty that what comes without effort is bereft of desire and fire.  The solitary missing lamb out of 100, the lost coin, the pearl of great price - all must be sought with urgency and fervency and desire.

God is certainly alive, and all living beings desire to speak with and move about with and interact with others.  God does not prompt us to seek Him through the scriptures alone, though the bible takes us a long way down the path that leads to Him.  No, He expects much more.  Lovingly woven within His Word, within His command to seek Him is a desire for a personal meeting - an encounter - a spiritual one-on-one.  A conversation.

If I were to tell a child I was going to hide in another room and that I wanted him to seek me out, the expectation of us both would be that eventually, his eyes would meet my eyes at the moment of reunion.  We would speak to one another, he would be happy and glad to have found me, and we would now sit and spend time together.

So when God tells us to seek Him wholeheartedly, the expectation of us both should be that a personal encounter will result!  When God says He can be found, that means; 1) He is not where we presently are, and 2) You must go to where He is.

I know that is His desire.  He loves hide and seek.  He wants to be found.
